Algarve’s Ombria Resort Unveils First Designs

22 May 2018

Ombria Resort, the new luxury real estate development located in the Algarve’s municipality of Loulé, the first phase of which will be the target of an investment of 100 million euros, has unveiled the first phase’s architectural design for the first time.

That phase will comprise a 5-star hotel, the Viceroy at Ombria Resort, with 76 luxurious rooms and suites, the Viceroy Residences at Ombria Resort, which include 65 tourist apartments, as well as Alcedo Villas and Oriole Village.

The design concept of the Ombria Resort masterplan and the 5-star Viceroy at Ombria Resort and Viceroy Residences was developed by WATG, the interior design of the hotel complex was developed by Wimberly Interiors (part of the WATG) while the Portuguese architects PROMONTÓRIO have created the hotel’s architectural and landscaping project, as well as the design concept and projects of Alcedo Villas and Oriole Village. The design was inspired by the characteristics, forms, materials and themes of the Barrocal region of Algarve, respecting the global ethos of the “Carved by Nature” resort.

In a statement, Ombria Resort said that all the designers and architects involved shared a common vision: creating a new, sustainable luxury destination, promoting and supporting the interior region of the Algarve, contributing to the local economy, valuing the region’s culture and cultural traditions, embracing local artisans and their knowledge of materials, perfected over the years.

The Alcedo Villas is composed of 12 individual villas, located next to the Viceroy at Ombria Resort. With a gross internal area between 330m2 and 500m2, PROMONTÓRIO’s design ensures that each house is unique while simultaneously integrated into the common concept: a unique and contemporary Portuguese house with a traditional design that melds into the landscape. The villas’ design maximises privacy and sun exposure, while allowing panoramic views of the golf course, the river and the surrounding countryside.

For the Oriole Village, which will have about 83 apartments, townhouses and villas, PROMONTÓRIO was inspired by traditional villages of the Barrocal Algarve to recreate a space where nature is respected and protected and also where local species of vegetation are used to enhance the design and integrate with the local landscape.
