30,000 m2 of Offices and Shops to Open in Lisbon’s Parque das Nações

3 May 2018

The development is located on the Praça do Príncipe Perfeito, on Parcel 1.11, right at the beginning of Avenida D. João II, in the heart of Lisbon’s Parque das Nações.

The project was designed by Diogo Freire de Andrade and Célia Regina Fulcher of Conceito Architects. The property had been slated to host the European Medicines Agency, but the Portuguese bid went to Porto. Amsterdam was later chosen by the European authorities to receive the headquarters of the agency that had been based in London.

Conceito’s architectural project was developed according to latest environmental building techniques. The property will have 15 aboveground floors and three subterranean ones and will include gardens.

The architect, Diogo Freire de Andrade, told DI that “the project’s owners wanted to promote sustainability, so the building was designed to be energy-efficient through the use of specific materials, shading, patios with green spaces and ponds, and that include elements that will promote the well-being and health of occupants and visitors.”

“The concept of the project is a linear building with vertical lines designed to emphasise a feeling of lightness, accentuated by aluminium blades.”

At the moment, there are developers who are interested in the property, whose conclusion is tied to the closing of the sale. However, considering the huge shortage of modern office space in Lisbon, and particularly in the Parque das Nações, it is likely that the deal will go ahead in the short-term.
