North Lisbon Logistics Platform to Reach Market in 2019

4 February 2019

After having acquired the North Lisbon Logistics Platform in Saba Parques Logísticos Portugal in 2016, the Spanish company Merlin Properties revealed that infrastructure works would conclude this year. The area comprises a large plot of land, about 300,000 m2, located in Castanheira do Ribatejo (Vila Franca de Xira). After the end of the work, Merlin will lease the property, João Cristina, the company’s director in Portugal, told Idealista.

“We believe that the terrain is very well situated for its intended use, at the junction of the A1, A10 and A9 highways, a strategic zone for that use,” he stated, adding that he believes they will easily find interested buyers due to the elevated level of demand: “interest and demand exists, and I believe that we have the right product in the right location. I think we will manage to lease the logistics park with relative ease.”

The North Lisbon Logistics Platform was one of the pillars of the Portugal Logistics Program. Classified as a Project of National Interest, the project’s foundation stone was laid in March 2008 by Saba Parques Logísticos. In 2013, Saba established an agreement with Gazeley, a real estate developer, to market and potentialize the area. In 2016, Merlin acquired the site from Saba Parques Logísticos Portugal.
