Visits by the British to Algarve Fall by 10% in July

The British market continues to weaken in the Algarve. According to recent data from the Algarve Association of Hotels and Tourism Enterprises (AHETA), in July, visitors from the British and Irish markets saw the highest occupancy declines, 10.3% and 11.2%, respectively.
Housing units in the Algarve saw an average global occupancy rate of 83.8 per cent, down 3.9 per cent from the same period last year.
Sales volumes increased by 2.6% compared to July 2017.
According to AHETA, the room occupancy rate has dropped by 2.3%, and turnover has increased by 3.5% since the beginning of the year.
