Unlock Boutique Hotels Refurbishes the Hotel da Estrela and Seeks to Manage 10 Units in Portugal

16 December 2017

Unlock Boutique Hotels currently manages six hotels in Portugal, four directly, with two as soft brands. But the company led by Miguel Velez hopes to have a total of ten hotels under management by the end of next year, always focusing on boutique hotels.

With just one year of operation under its belt, the tech company is dedicated to managing boutique hotels, and already operates assets of around 30 million euros, creating roughly 70 direct jobs.

Unlock’s last significant investment was in the Hotel da Estrela, where a new restaurant, the ‘Book’, and bar were presented to the press last Thursday.

Miguel Velez did not disclose the value of the company’s investment in the hotel.

The ‘Book’ has a new ‘chef, Diogo Conde, a new menu, and a new bar. Both have been redecorated.

The Hotel da Estrela is a personalised and intimate establishment, having only 19 rooms, and occupies the former palace of the Counts of Paraty.
