Iberostar Arrives in Portugal Opening Hotel in Lisbon

It will be the seventh urban hotel of the chain that has its roots in the Balearic Islands (Spain). The value of the investment in the hotel that will be inaugurated in October at the Avenida da Liberdade, in Lisbon, was not disclosed.

Iberostar Hotels & Resorts will open, in early October, its first hotel in Portugal.  The new hotel will be in Lisbon, on the Avenida da Liberdade.

Newly named the Iberostar Lisboa; this new 5-star hotel will feature 166 rooms and a wide range of exclusive services, including a restaurant with a capacity for 150 people, where a wide range of cuisine, both local and international, will be offered.

“The Iberostar’s arrival in Portugal represents a great milestone for us. This new hotel will strengthen our international presence, as well as our footprint in the urban hotel sector.  We already have a presence in some of the main tourist cities of the world, such as New York, Madrid and Budapest,” Aurelio Vázquez, managing director for Europe, Middle East and Africa of the Iberostar Group stated, highlighting the new hotel’s relevance to the chain.

“The Mallorcan hotel chain is betting on the capital city of Lisbon to reinforce its strategy in urban hotels and will include the new establishment Iberostar Lisbon in its portfolio”, read a company statement, without revealing the amount invested in the new hotel.

The same document adds that Iberostar Lisboa is “located in the commercial and business area of the Baixa area of Lisbon (…) next to the Marquês de Pombal Square, just five minutes’ walk from Avenida Liberdade, one of the most exclusive areas in the Portuguese capital.”

“With the opening in Lisbon, Iberostar continues to work to be ever more present in the most important tourist capitals of the world, with hotels in central locations benefiting from unique and original buildings,” said the statement.

The Iberostar chain’s urban portfolio already has other hotels, such as Iberostar Las Letras Gran Vía, in Madrid; the Iberostar Grand Hotel Mencey in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, or Iberostar 70 Park Avenue in New York, among others.  All are 4-star or superior and seen as “references for luxury and exclusivity in the city centre “.
