12 July 2018

DHM – Discovery Hotel Management reopened the Douro41 Hotel & Spa after seven months of renovations and an investment of five million euros.

Overlooking the banks of the Douro river, the Rio Douro Hotel & Spa, reopened its doors after a renovation designed by the interior designer Cristina Jorge de Carvalho and the architects at Serôdio, Furtado & Associados.

With 55 rooms and six suites, the hotel has a modern and minimalist look, benefitting from the combination of natural light and contemporary design.

The Raiva restaurant and the À Terra Bar & Canteen are two of the principal new features of the renovated hotel. Raiva, which the capacity for around 125 people, interprets the region’s cuisine using some of its most authentic and emblematic flavours, while the À Terra Bar & Canteen hews to the chain’s existing model, already present in other hotels owned by DHM, focusing on farm-to-table cuisine, with dishes for sharing, rustic and home-made food, in addition to creative cocktails.

Another of the attractions is the Douro41 Spa, which has a team of specialised therapists, a new approach to treatments, properly equipped rooms, a panoramic indoor swimming pool and facilities for hydrotherapy.

The hotel also has two panoramic swimming pools, a gym, a movie theatre, a library, a meeting room, a parking lot and a lobby market, as well as a waterway with docks that have the capacity for 26 vessels, enabling the possibility to discover the Douro area.

The Douro41 Hotel & Spa is part of the Design Collection category within the portfolio of DHM – Discovery Hotel Management, as well as being part of the prestigious international Design Hotels network.
