U-WORLD to Invest €20M in Student Residences in Braga

1 February 2019

U-WORLD’s will develop its first university residences in Braga, Portugal. The project, called U-LOFT Braga, involves a 20-million-euro investment.

The U-LOFT Braga will comprise 230 new flats (studios and three to four-bedroom apartments), or a total of 368 beds, together with various ancillary facilities such as a gym, common social area, restaurant, entrepreneurs club and even scholarships. Construction will be completed by 2020.

Following the current market needs, U-World – a Portuguese company acting in collaboration with Campus Advantage, one of the most important operators of student residences in the US – is preparing to begin construction on its first university residence. According to Guilherme Guedes, Director of Operations at U-WORLD, “this project is unique in the country, and we do not doubt that it will be very advantageous for the students of the university community in Braga. More than a university residence, U-LOFT Braga aims to be a community where students feel encouraged to achieve their goals and make the most of their life at the school.”

U-LOFT Braga will also create new investment opportunities for the small/medium savers in the market for university residences. The firm’s alternative investment product has been well received in the market since the project’s pre-launch phase when it sold about 20% of the new apartments.

U-WORLD plans on making Braga just one of many future investments. Up to 2021 U-WORLD intends to develop university residences in Aveiro, Coimbra, Guimarães, Lisbon and Porto, for a total of 2,000 beds.
