Turismo de Portugal Launches Meetings in Portugal Platform

11 December 2017

Turismo de Portugal’s new online tool, www.meetingsinportugal.com, is a platform that lists all of the events in Portugal in one site. The platform, which is networked with the various convention centres, aggregates the relevant information about all of the events in Portuguese territory.

These are some of the possibilities of the new online platform which includes a list of hotels, venues, Destination Management Companies, Professional Congress Organisers, event planners, catering, and other suppliers associated with the M & I segment, as well as providing a directory of service providers, with the possibility of directly requesting proposals and budgets for specific projects. Also, the site includes information on the most relevant events planned for Portugal.

The Secretary of State for Tourism, Ana Mendes Godinho, stated that this platform “constitutes an important leap for the marketing of Portugal as a destination for conventions because it permits us to aggregate the totality of existing events in the country. It is a handy tool for organisers, and for us, as a destination can only benefit and position us as an attractive destination for the important business tourism segment. It is especially important when we consider that many of these events take place outside the summer months and that, with the offer all lodged on the same platform, we may even extend events to more of Portugal, since there is enough supply.”

Luís Araújo, the president of Turismo de Portugal, points out that “the creation of this platform will give Turismo de Portugal a greater presence in international forums, contributing to the enhancement of Portugal’s reputation as an M&I destination, one of the objectives of our national tourism strategy which advocates Portugal as a leader in tourism of the future “.

The new platform is part of the set of measures carried out by the Ministry of the Economy under the Simplex+ Program (Tourism Portal+) and aims to aggregate previously dispersed and difficult of access information.
