Sixth Street and Eidos Partners acquired a resort in Porto Cervo

Sixth Street and Eidos Partners completed the acquisition of Le Palme Hotel & Resort in Porto Cervo, Sardinia. This is the first acquisition in the Italian hospitality market for Sixth. The property, which covers a 17,000 Sqm surface, will be turned into a luxury hotel to be inaugurated by 2024. It currently offers 92 rooms, a private beach, a lake, a garden, a restaurant, and a swimming pool.

Hotel Investment Partners bought six hotels in Sardinia and Sicily

Hotel Investment Partners (HIP), the biggest resort owner in southern Europe, acquired three hotels in Sardinia and another three in Sicily from Mangia’s, Resort by the Sea (formerly Aeroviaggi). Mangia will continue managing the hotels and will be part of the joint venture together with HIP to renovate and reposition them by investing €85 million.

More international brands to open luxury hotels in Italy

Several international brands have announced new five-stars hotels in Italy in the past few months. To name a few, Belmond and Four Seasons will arrive in Puglia, Rosewood, Delano, 7Pines Kempinski and Baglioni in Sardinia, Oetker Collection in Capri, Six Senses and Marriott will open in Rome.

Italian luxury hospitality was strong even before the pandemic. World Capital reports that the sector went from 521 five-stars hotel in 2018 to 554 in 2019. Italy is regarded as a complete destination, offering beaches, mountains, and culture. The tourism industry in the country operates all year round and is supported by adequate infrastructure.

Baglioni Hotels & Resorts to manage a five-star hotel in Puntaldia, Sardinia

Baglioni Hotels & Resorts will be the new manager of Paradise Resort & SPA, the five-star hotel in Puntaldia (San Teodoro, Sardinia). The hotel will be re-branded Baglioni Resort Puntaldia, joining The Leading Hotels of the World, and will open in June 2021. Cushman & Wakefield acted as advisor for the selection of the new manager.

Sardinia: the effects of Coronavirus on property sales

According to Nomisma, in Sardinia, and more specifically in the region of Gallura, there will be a loss between 9 and 22 billion in euro in residential property sales this year, with transactions down by 50-120 thousand compared to the forecasted 650 thousand. The reduction in the transaction volume will likely cause prices to decrease further.

Porti: banchina Pala Porto Torres al nuovo concessionario

Galluria leads tourism in Sardinia

Scenari Immobiliare reports that the property market for holiday homes in Sardinia is in good shape, with transactions grown by 16% in Costa Smeralda. All the main destinations reported a growth: Alghero (+9.5%), Olbia (12%), La Maddalena (28%), Santa Teresa (12.1%), Golfo Aranci (13.9%), Aglientu (18%), and Porto Torres (7.9%). 60% of the buyers are foreigners.  Galluria, in the hinterland, is also doing very well. The region caters to a different target from Costa Smeralda, offering a more authentic lifestyle and not as strictly connected to the beach.

Smeralda Holding to invest 120 million euro in the hotels in Sardinia in the next five years

The subsidiary of the Qatar Investment Authority Smeralda Holding plans to invest 120 million euro in the requalification of hotels in Sardinia for the next five years.

The Cervo, Pitrizza and Romazzino hotels in Porto Cervo, Costa Smeralda, will be overhauled, while the Cala di Volpe Hotel has just been restructured. The four hotels offer 360 rooms in total and mainly cater to American, Italian and French guests.

After the renovation of the hotels, the portfolio will be put for sale. Besides the hotels, the portfolio also includes bars, restaurants, shops, the Porto Cervo Marina and the related port facilities, a golf course, plots of land and other real estate assets.

The Region of Sardinia to auction five assets on the coast

The Region of Sardinia has recently published the first five call for bids concerning the assignment for requalification purposes of real estate assets on the coast. The assets are the former lighthouse of Capo D’Orso (Palau), the old signal station of Capo Sperone (Sant’Antioco), the former streetlight station of Capo Ferro (Arzachena), the previous lookout post of Capo Figari (Golfo Aranci), and the former signal station of Punta Falcone (Santa Teresa di Gallura).

The auction will select the most convenient commercial offer. Once obtained one or more assets, it will be necessary to recover them through highly-skilled interventions to use them for hospitality and touristic purposes. The documentation required to participate at the bid is available on the website of the Region of Sardinia www.regione.sardegna.it.

Investment for 30 million euro in a hotel complex in Torregrande (Sardinia)

Four hotels featuring a reception, a restaurant, a golf course, a clubhouse, a wellness centre, a multifunctional space and a playground area, 360 beds in total for a volume of 76 thousand cubic metres. The investment amounts to 30 million euro. These are the numbers of the hotel complex designed by Oreste De Valle’s Ivi Petrolifera which will rise in Torregrande, near Oristano, on the western coast of Sardinia.

The project has been officially presented in the past few days and was submitted to the commission for the environmental impact (Via), while it’s waiting to obtain the green light from the Region of Sardinia within 60 days. The project will definitely mean a radical change in the hospitality and touristic offer for this part of the island.
