Lama sold for 50.6 million

19 January, La Repubblica

The Lama building will be the new Hilton Hotel in Rome. After the closure of the manifestation of interest on 15th December, Eur Spa has finalised the sale of the business hotel beside the Nuvola building by Fuksas to Icarus Spa for 50.6 million. The company, which also manages two other Hilton Hotels in Fiumicino, has become the new owner of the property featuring 439 rooms, and a total surface of 29 thousand Sq m for the shell and core building.

An additional investment of 40 million will be necessary to implement the facilities, the parting walls and the finishing for the new luxury hotel. The opening is planned for 2019 when the hotel and congress functions will be fully operational. However, highlights Eur Spa, “the sale will be effective with the successful completion of the recovery works for the move of the Rome Convention Centre La Nuvola and the monetisation of the residue quota of the public parking lots, considering the implementation of the necessary parking spaces under the congress centre”. That means the usual problems. Due to a mistake during the construction phase of Nuvola causing the building to move by 2 metres on Viale Europa, the failure in solving the issue might mean the cancellation of the contract. Everything depends on the approval of the plan for the parking spaces by the City of the Rome. Nuvola is now operational (hosting successful exhibitions taken for the Rome Exhibition Center), Lama has been finally sold: now it’s the turn of the City.
