Vado Gateway was inaugurated. Logistics in Northern Italy will radically change

13 December, Italia Fruit

The new container terminal in Vado Ligure (Savona) named Vado Gateway has been recently inaugurated. The terminal is one of the largest logistic infrastructures implemented in Italy in the last decades and required an investment of 450 million euro. Vado Gateway was committed by the Port Authority for the Western Ligurian Sea, whereas Apm Terminals has been appointed for its management with a 50-year mandate.

The terminal is semi-automated and will initially operate from a 450-metres pier, which will be extended to 700 metres in July 2020. It will be able to receive large ships such as Ulcs (Ultra large container ships). The terminal will support two major Maersk maritime lines, one connecting the Mediterranean to the Middle East and India and another one linking the Mediterranean with Canada.
