Property prices are growing in all the neighbourhoods of Milan. They’re still in Rome

28 February, Italia Oggi

When it comes to prices, Milan beats Rome.

According to a survey by Immobiliare.it concerning the neighbourhoods of the two cities, all the areas of Milan are benefitting from a positive trend of prices, while in the Capital, one neighbourhood every three reported a standstill, if not a reduction, in the last year. The average price of a property in Milan is 9,184 euro/Sq m, while it’s 7,865 euro/Sq m in Rome city centre.

The areas that have grown most throughout the years have been Città Studi in Milan (+20% and average prices of 5,000 euro/Sq m), and Colli Albani-Appio Latino in Rome (+13% and average prices of 4,000 euro/Sq m). In Milan, Baggio-Bisceglie-Olmi reported the lowest prices with average prices of 2,286 euro/Sq m. In Rome, the cheapest neighbourhood is Lunghezza-Castelverde (1,680 euro/Sq m).

Finally, a house with a view of the Dome costs 1,300 euro/Sq m more than one with a view of the Colosseum.

Immobiliare.it spa Ceo Carlo Giordano commented: “While in Rome the recovery of the property market is not homogenous, Milan is experiencing a positive trend in all its part. Thanks to the structure of its territory, its services and infrastructures, Milan has effectively become a competitor for other big European cities such as Madrid, Paris and Berlin”.
