“A positive trend is starting for the market”

“The new societies are starting especially in Lombardy, Lazio and Campania”

“The situation emerging from the report cheers us up: 50% of the residential properties is a main residence and usually bought by young people”. The president of the State Council of Notaries Salvatore Lombardo takes the occasion during the presentation of the report to give some suggestions.

The majority of the houses are bought for less than 100 thousand euro. Are there signals of an increase in the prices of properties?

Yes.  A signal of a possible increase is that, compared to the first six months of the year, the amounts issued by the banks have increased whereas the number of operations has decreased.

Does the interpretation of the figures suggest some adjustments?

There should be some appropriate interventions, starting, obviously, from taxation. Our analysis shows that people buy mainly from privates rather than from builders. It’s clear that the motivation is the VAT: for a young person even saving few thousands euro can make the difference in the choice between buying an old or a new property.

Talking about young people, how are the things going concerning mortgages?

Also, in this case, an intervention concerning timing is needed. Bureaucracy doesn’t help. In order to have prompt responses, we need to give more power to banks at a local level.

Companies don’t follow the traditional gap between North and South…

Correct. Companies are starting especially in Lombardy, Lazio and Campania. This distribution shows how there is an entrepreneurial presence also in the Centre and the South of Italy.

Is turning an individual business into a familiar one a way to employ the sons?

Absolutely, it is interesting paying attention to the average age of the family of the main entrepreneur: it is mostly young people (36.61% aged between 18 and 35) and males for a percentage of 55.55%.
