The number of auctioned houses has decreased by 14% in the last six months

13 January, Italia Oggi

The number of auctioned houses in Italy has decreased by 14% in the last six months. In fact, the procedures currently open are 19,659, against the 22,969 of last July. This is the second consecutive reduction of the sector that plummeted in the last year. Compared to the beginning of 2017, when the number of units was 33,304, the total of auctioned properties has fallen by 41%. The figures are included in the bi-annual report on property auctions by Sogeaa, and it was presented to the Senate.

As it happened six months ago, the trend is led by the north of the country that has gone from 8,817 to 6,558 procedures (-26%). Northern Italy, where in the past nearly half of the entire stock of properties for sales was concentrated, sees its quota falling up to 33%, even if the region still holds an important share compared to the other micro-regions. The data, however, is not homogenous within the region. For example, while Piedmont sees its procedures reduced by one-quarter (from 2,052 to 1,561) and they’re halved in Lombardy (from 4,438 to 2,255), auctions have tripled in Veneto, going from 529 to 1,582. Auctions have significantly dropped also in the islands (3,716 currently auctioned properties, -17%), while the Center (4,822 properties) and the South (4,554) have substantially confirmed the same levels registered in July (they were respectively 4,883 and 4,766).
