Mortgages, the demand drops by 6.9%, growth of the amounts requested

21 March, La Repubblica

The requests for mortgages and subrogations have continued to decrease in February. According to the data by Crif, the reduction has been equal to 6.9% compared to the same period of the previous year, when subrogations were a significant part of the demand. Whereas the amounts requested have increased (+1.3% compared to February 2017), bringing the average value to 126,064 euro. The most common amounts are included in the range between 100,000 and 150,000 euro (29.4% of the total). Italians prefer a period between 16 and 20 years to pay back the loans.

“Today the market trend is increasingly concentrated on the offer of new mortgages – declares Simone Capecchi, Crif Executive Director – and they support the recovery of real estate, which is struggling to take off, despite the convenient prices”.
