Investments for nursing homes are growing

05 December, Monitor Immobiliare

In the last ten years, the investments in healthcare properties have gone from an average of 30 million in the 2006-2014 to 230 million in the period 2015-2017.

The last survey by Colliers International Italia shows the growth potential of the healthcare sector, which has become very attractive to investors.

The healthcare properties segment is getting more interest from institutional investors, especially the Italian ones, seen as a long-term investment able to grant stable income streams.

In the past few years, the number of healthcare facilities has reduced, due to the reorganization of the healthcare expenditure and the new budget for the defaulting regions.

In the meantime, the socio-demographic trends of the population show the quick ageing and the increase of chronic diseases among Italians.

These phenomena are destined to increase, and they don’t find a resolution in the healthcare offer currently available, both public and private.

Simone Roberti, Head of Research di Colliers International Italia, comments: “The nursing homes sector is geting more and more the interest of private investors since the lack of intervention from the public institutions gives them space for action”.
