Intrum working with Goldman and Mediobanca on the Intesa NPLS

27 January, Il Sole 24 Ore

The Swedish Intrum Iustitia is currently working with the American merchant bank Goldman Sachs and with Mediobanca on the dossier concerning the purchase of 51% of the NPL management platform of Intesa Sanpaolo and of gross bad loans for about 10.8 billion. The operation seems to have speeded up from the side of Intesa Sanpaolo since it will be one of the main points of its business plan to be presented on 6th February.

However, the perimeter of the operation hasn’t been defined yet. There will be a spin-off the Capital Light division of Intesa Sanpaolo. After having defined the perimeter, Intrum Iustitia, guided by Antonella Pagano, will assess the amount needed for the operation, allegedly around one billion. The Swedish group, which has just been merged, has assigned Goldman Sachs for the evaluation of the structure of the capital and for the assessment of the necessary capital for the operation.
