Hilton to open its first hotel in Turin thanks to an agreement with Ipi group

18 December, Il Sole 24 Ore

Lingotto Hotels, a company of the group Ipi, has signed an agreement with Hilton for the opening of the first hotel of the prestigious hotel chain in Turin. This is a franchising agreement that, through a rebranding operation, will include the current NH Lingotto Tech within the brand DoubleTree by Hilton at the beginning of 2018. The hotel will have 142 rooms and it will be named DoubleTree by Hilton Turin Lingotto. The restructuring works are assessed for a value of 1.6 million, allowing the building to meet the Hilton quality standards.

“Turin is a unique destination, combining tourism and business, the 2006 Winter Olympics were an important event for tourism, as it was Expo Milano in 2015, increasing the visits to the city of Piedmont – commented Patrick Fitzgibbon, Hilton senior vice president for EMEA development – In 2015, Turin registered an increase in turnover for one-tenth concerning tourism. This is for us a good moment to enter the market of the city thanks to the agreement with Lingotto Hotels”.

The rebranding process will start in the next weeks and it will conclude at the beginning of 2018. In the meanwhile, the hotel will continue to welcome guests under the NH brand until the contract currently in place with Lingotto Hotels will end at the end of 2017. The staff will stay mostly the same, under the leadership of the General Manager Simona Calabrese, who has been guiding the hotel for the last two years.

The hotels and the Doubletree resorts by Hilton, belonging to a collection of over 500 high-range hotels, are currently expanding, with over 119 thousand rooms and presences in cities and leisure destinations on six continents.  Hilton Worldwide has a portfolio of 14 brands, about 5 thousand hotels with over 812 thousand rooms in 103 countries. Lingotto Hotels is owned by Ipi Spa, a real estate asset management and consulting company.
