The hospitality turnover is growing according to Trademark Italia

05 February, Travel Quotidiano

In 2017, the turnover of the tourism-hospitality sector was 174 billion euro (ten more than 2016), including 64 billion of downstream activities. The figures by Trademark Italia, which will be presented during the Premio Excellent in Milan on 12th February, show a slight increase of the hospitality capacity (eight million and 80 thousand beds, 90 thousand more) while camping sites and resorts have continued to drop, losing 10 thousand beds. The sector employs two million and 600 thousand people (equal to 12% of the Italian workforce), one million and 700 thousand of which are directly employed and 900 thousand indirectly. For what concerns the country of origin of the tourists, Germany is first, having increased the visitors from 27.7% to 28.4% of the total. France, even though slightly decreasing from 6.8% to 6.7%, and Great Britain (steady at 6.5%) keep their positions, while there is a generalised decrease of tourists from USA (from 6.1% to 5.8%) and, more dramatically, China, going from 2.8% to 2.2%.
