Spain´s Construction Rises by 23.9%

Reactivation of the construction sector is just behind the corner. Eurostat provides the latest report on the European market of builders, according to which Spain improved its production by 23.9% in February, comparing to the same month a year before.

Olny Slovenia (33.1%) and Hungary (28.3%) performed better. On the fourth and fifth positions there rank Poland (14.4%) and Germany (14.1%). Whereas on the other end one may find Romania with decline of 14.7%, Portugal with 11.5% and Italy with 7.9%.

In year-on-year terms, in February the eurozone saw a 6.7% appreciation in construction activity, while in the entire European Union the rise marked 5.5%. 

In the eurozone countries the increase has been pushed by a 6.6% advance in building construction and a 7.6% rise in civil engineering. In case of the EU, the appreciation was equal to 5.9% and 3.9% respectively. 

In month-on-month terms, the building production in February showed a slight +0.1% in both aforementioned areas. In January, the figures post +1.6% in the eurozone and +1.4% in the EU.

The highest increases in month-on-month production were registered in Poland (17.4%), Hungary (8.2%) and Spain (3%), whilst the sharpest falls in Slovenia (-4.9%), Italy (-3.7%) and in the UK (-2.8%).
