INE: Second-hand House Sales Rose By 36% In Sept

10 November 2015 – Expansión

House sales rose in September for the thirteenth month in a row, increasing by 13.8% YoY to reach 30,711 operations. 80% of sales involved second-hand homes. Sales of second-hand homes soared by 36% to record 19 consecutive months of increases. Sales of new homes dropped by 31.3% (6,111 operations), according to the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

The statistics for September showed the consolidation of the improvement in the residential market, which began the road to recovery in 2014. The current figures are still a long was off of those recorded before the crisis, but experts note a trend towards “stabilisation”, which is “desirable”, compared with the overheating and crashes seen in previous years.
