Belgians “Massively” Investing in Spanish Housing

23/04/2014 – Expansion

According to the Femish daily newspaper, investors coming from Belgium purchased around 3.800 dwellings in Spain in 2013. Over the past six years, the number of house acquisitions initiated by Belgian buyers rose five times.

Moreover, comparing the country size to the number of its citizens, Belgium ranks first in investment in Spanish real estate.

Thus, last year, 2.833 Belgians bought a second house in Spain, mostly along the Costa Brava coastline. This number is sevenfold if the figures registered since the recession had arrived are considered.

Moreover, the purchase of principal houses tripled since that time and sealed 971 transactions in 2013.

The Belgian press attribute the described growth of interest to the abrupt price slump observed in Spain nowadays.
